An easy and well known garden plant that slowly spreads into dense clumps. To 2′, spreading 6′ or so a year it slowly creeps, in the spring it is tricolor, green and white variegated foliage with lovely bright pink in the buds and young growth for the 1st month or so in the spring. Edible shoots. Nodding white flowers in clusters underneath the leaf axils. It prefers shade and is not picky, thriving in almost full sun and in pretty deep shade.
